HRE has performed MEP services for both new and existing educational and institutional facilities. Our MEP staff has an extensive background in new school and public use building design. HREĦs design team creates plans and specifications that comply with local, state, and national codes. The engineering team holds in-house coordination meetings prior to issue deadlines to ensure that our clients receive quality construction drawings and to minimize change orders. Utilizing check lists and our Construction Division resources, we perform extensive technical checks of plans in preparation for each issue phase. We are capable of designing to Leadership Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) requirements. Likewise, HRE also offers Base Building Commissioning services for LEED projects.

MECHANICAL
It is our practice to design HVAC systems that improve a buildingĦs overall indoor air quality. For renovation projects our design practice is to evaluate the indoor air quality of a facility to determine whether the air handling systems need upgrading. The engineers reuse as much of the existing air distribution system as possible to reduce the construction costs. Mechanical equipment is selected based on energy efficiency, minimal installation cost and minimal routine maintenance.

ELECTRICAL
In our electrical designs special consideration is given to power distribution, placing panels strategically to limit the length of branch circuit runs and eliminating over sizing of the feeder circuits. The design of lighting systems is based on lighting efficiency, lamp life and operating existing facilities, the energy usage of the existing fixtures are always considered and balance energy usage and cost. Special system design such as fire alarm and security is based on the latest technology in these specialties.

PLUMBING
It is our design practice to optimize water savings flushing systems. Special attention is given to equipment locations, state-of-the-art fixture selection, and coordination with utilities and civil engineering. The Americans with Disabilities Act is considered when locating drinking fountains, water closets, and lavatories. Our designers have extensive experience in large cooking facilities, laboratories, and special waste systems requiring oil and dirt separation. Also, HREĦs experience includes designing drainage systems for slaughterhouses and garages.
